Save the date! Jubilee Christmas is December 7, 2013 from 1-3:30pm!
What is jubilee Christmas?
Jubilee Christmas is a program seeking to provide toys for families living in poverty in the Johnson County area while preserving the dignity of and restoring hope to parents.
Last year, parents signed up to participate in Jubilee Christmas, which was hosted at the University of Central Missouri. Parents shopped from a selection of new, donated toys for their children. Presents were wrapped and taken home to give to 100 children on Christmas morning.
This year we hope to improve our efforts and provide opportunity for even more people in the community. In addition to the “store”, we will have a Jubilee Workshop. The Jubilee Workshop will provide an opportunity for the children to create Christmas gifts for their parents out of sustainable materials. The Jubilee store and workshop will be set up at UCM on December 7 from 1:00-3:30 p.m., and we are encouraging many different groups to volunteer that day.
How is Jubilee different than any other Christmas charity? While other drives and donations provide presents for children on Christmas, sometimes they do not include or account for the dignity of the parents of those kids. This program seeks to empower the parents so that they get to be the heroes with their own children rather than watch strangers provide what they can’t.
What do we need? Volunteers and toys for 150+ children ages 2 – 12.
We are asking for your help: Would you be willing to donate your time, money or new toys the day of Jubilee?
If so, please contact Kaytlynn Clemons at 660-225-1041 or [email protected].
